Austin Tilghman (St. Andrews, DE) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I recently had the chance to catch up with standout freshmen Austin Tilghman (St. Andrews, DE) we discussed why he picked St. Andrews and what goals he has set for his upcoming season. Austin is a combo guard who ranks among the best in the tri-state area for his class; he has a nice combination of size and skills that let him excel on the court. 

PHR: What schools have started to show interest in you?

AT: Honestly I just left 8th grade so no one has shown any interest yet.
PHR: What things are you looking for in a program and coach?

AT: I want a program and a coach that will continue to develop me like I know coach Terrell will do and in college I want the same things a program that supports my talents at that time.
PHR: How did you come to the decision to attend St. Andrews?

AT: My family and I chose St. Andrews because of the education I could get there not really for basketball I think the education there might get me into any college I want. Continue reading »

Shikei Blake (Howard, DE) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I caught up with rising sophomore standout Shikei Blake (Howard, DE). We chatted about what he is looking for in a program and what he worked on this summer to improve his game. Shikei is ready to have a breakout season in his sophomore campaign and is looking to become a great all around player and leader for his high school.

PHR: What schools are you hearing from right now?

SB: Not hearing from anyone right now.
PHR: Do you have a school list yet?

SB: I have not compiled a list yet.
PHR: What are you looking for in a program or university?

SB: Academics first, a good relationship with the coaching staff and style of play.
PHR: Did you have a dream school or university growing up?

Antonio Depina (Polytech, DE) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I had the chance to speak with sophomore Antonio Depina (Polytech, DE) yesterday about some of his goals for his sophomore season, why he decided to transfer to Polytech and what he did this summer to improve his game. Antonio is excited for the upcoming season and is ready to prove all of his haters that they are wrong about his game.

PHR: What schools are you hearing from right now?
AD: Florida State, Oregon State, Delaware State and Towson.

PHR: Do you have a school list yet?
AD: No

PHR: What are you looking for in a program and university?
AD: I’m looking for a school that can help me make an immediate impact and grow to my full potential as a person.

PHR: What were the main factors in your transfer to Polytech?
AD: Polytech HS has an outstanding Dental program. I’ve always wanted to be a dentist since I was age 6. Going to a Vo-tech school will help me prepare for college. Continue reading »

Anthony Mosley (Sanford, DE) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I had the chance to catch up with standout freshmen, Anthony Mosley (Sanford, DE) this weekend. We talked about some of the deciding factors on picking Sanford School for high school and what it’s like to play for an AAU powerhouse like the D.C. Assault program. Anthony also mentioned some of his goals he has set for his upcoming freshmen season. There is a lot of buzz about Anthony Mosley he is considered one of the top rated players in his class in the tri-state area.

PHR: What schools have you heard from so far?

AM: I haven’t received any letters at this time, however I have had coaches from Delaware and Delaware State make positive comments about my game and encourage me to keep my grades up.
PHR: What are you looking for in a program and university?

AM: I am like most other players in the region aspiring to play in the Big East or the ACC, but in the end I really just want to play at a school with a good coach that plays my type of game and a school that offers a good education and a quality environment. Continue reading »

Andre Gibbs (Smyrna, DE) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I caught up with the top junior point guard in Delaware, Andre Gibbs (Smyrna, DE) yesterday to discuss how his recruitment and summer went on the AAU circuit. Andre also talked about his goals for his upcoming season. Andre has excellent court vision and a high basketball I.Q. that helps him be a leader for his team.

PHR: What schools are recruiting you right now the hardest?

AG: Ivy League Schools, Fairfield, Bowling Green State, & a bunch of D2
PHR: Do you have a school list yet?

AG: I have a good idea of my list of schools, but it’s still early.
PHR: Have you taken any un-official or official visits yet?

AG: No.
PHR: What are you looking for in a program and university?

AG: Good coaches, and a program that fits my style of play.
PHR: Did you have a dream school or conference growing up?

Joey Gripper (Abington Friends, PA) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I caught up with class of 2011 lead guard Joey Gripper (Abington Friends, PA) today to discuss how his recruitment is coming along also we discussed his summer on the AAU circuit plus what he is looking forward to about his senior season. Joey is one of the top players in the tri-state area who has excellent court vision to go along with his blazing speed. 

PHR: What schools are showing the most interest right now?

JG: Harvard, Quinnipiac, Marshall, & George Mason
PHR: What schools have offered?

JG: Harvard, George Mason, Penn, Quinnipiac, Appalachian St, Howard, UNC-Greensboro and Drexel.

PHR: Do you have a top 3 or a favorite school right now?

JG: Harvard, Quinnipiac and George Mason.
PHR: Have you taken any official or un-official visits yet?

JG: Harvard.
PHR: What are you looking for in a program and university?

JG: Just a University where they desire me, and I can grow as a player and person.
PHR: Do you have a time-table on when you will announce?

Deuce Bello (Westchester Country Day, NC) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I had the chance to catch up with rising star Deuce Bello (Westchester Country Day, NC) on Saturday at the Scoutsfocus Elite 80 showcase in Greensboro, NC. We spoke about his recruitment and recent trip to Louisville along with his goals for the upcoming season. Deuce is considered the #1 Dunker in high school hoops but he has worked very hard this summer to show that his game is evolving into a lot more than a rim rocking wing player.

PHR: What schools are on your list right now?

DB: Louisville, Baylor, Florida State, Maryland, Wake Forest and Marquette

PHR: Have all these schools offered?

DB: Yes all of them have offered.

PHR: How was the visit to Louisville that you and Quincy Miller went on?

A.J. English (Appoquinimink, DE) Class of 2011 Q&A With Premo Hoops

I had the chance to catch up with standout guard A.J. English (Appoquinimink, DE) the other day and we discussed his summer on the AAU circuit, recruitment and goals for the upcoming senior season. A.J. had a very successful summer on the circuit playing for Nike Team Takeover based out of D.C. and Coach Stevens, his AAU team won inaugural Nike EYBL championship at the Nike Peach Jam event.

 PHR: What schools are recruiting you the hardest right now?

AE: It’s really the same with all my schools right now
Marquette, Virginia, Rutgers, Seton Hall, DEPAUL, UMASS, NC State, Wake Forest, UNLV, George Mason, South Alabama, Villanova, Clemson, Xavier, West Virginia and the whole A-10.
PHR: What schools are on your list right now?

AE: The schools I listed in the first question.
PHR: Do you have a top 3 or 5 right now?

AE: No I don’t have a top 3 or 5 yet.
PHR: What are you looking for in a program and university?

AE: I’m looking for a school where I step in right away and play and a school that I can help win right away.

Shakore Grant (Appoquinimink, DE) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I had the chance to catch up with senior Shakore Grant the other day. We talked about what schools are showing interest in him along with what he is looking forward to about playing at a new school this year after transferring from Newark (DE) to Appoquinimink (DE). Shakore is looking forward to having a big time season this year.

PHR: What schools are showing interest right now?

SG: Wagner, Boston College, Xavier, VCU, St. John’s and others.

PHR: What are you looking for in a program and university?

SG: I am looking for a good coach where I can go and fit into the system.

PHR: What parts of your game did you work on the most this summer to improve on?

SG: My dribbling and shooting.

PHR: After transferring to Appoquinimink (DE) what are you looking forward to about this season?

SG: I’m looking forward to a lot of fast breaks I think we have the fastest team in the state by far and getting up and down the court. We all got good chemistry together since we have had the chance to play together a lot. I think we should be able to win the chip this year.

PHR: Did you have a dream school or conference growing up?

SG: My dream school is West Virginia University.

PHR: Is location going to play a factor in your decision?

SG: No, I just want to get out of the state of Pennsylvania.

Jaylen Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh, PA) Q&A With Premo Hoops

I had the chance to catch up with senior Jaylen Bond (Plymouth Whitemarsh, PA) who committed to University of Pittsburgh in the spring then went out and had a very successful AAU campaign with East Coast Elite based out of Delaware. We talked about his goals for the upcoming season along with what he liked about Pitt and his summer.

PHR: What were the deciding factors on picking Pitt?

JB: I loved that it was in the city, the coaching staff, there program.
PHR: What are schools were in the running for your services?

JB: my top other choices were WVU and Temple. But a lot of other schools were showing interest and some offered.
PHR: What are some things you like about Coach Dixon and his staff?

JB: I like how he recruited me not an assistant, he is straight forward and honest plus he has a good/ winning program, and he is a good coach. Continue reading »
